Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is loopxpool?
loopxpool is a cloud-based audio looper / beat sharing platform that was invented by a rap-spraying-scratch-hacking DJ dad, who still gets yelled at for hotboxing the minivan.
What it do, though?
loopxpool lets you upload your own .wav or .mp3 files, and converts your upload into an infinite loop optimized for web streaming via smartphone, tablet or desktop/laptop.
You can group your loops into a collection of beats, and build a profile page to showcase your uploads and collections.
You control the privacy of your content, and can make loops public for others to browse and curate to collections, or keep them private just for your own looping pleasures.
Why loops?
Loops are fun to make, and fun to scratch to.
Check out yer boy on the cut...puttin in that R&D!
What is the purpose of this ...loopxpool?
loopxpool was initially created as a way for turntablists/DJs to share loops with each other.
In the early days of the internet, loop files were distributed amongst scratch DJs through websites and forums.
When Flash was popular, loops were also distributed as .swf files and were often pretty cool mini apps that you could run off a desktop computer or web browser.
Although technology has progressed exponentially since the early 2000s, it has become harder to make and share beat “loopers” since more people are using mobile devices that have limited space and do not support Flash.
Also, DJ technology has changed, and portable turntables are really fun.
Is it free?
Once you create an account, it's free to listen to loops and curate your own collections.
You can also upload 5 loops for free.
loopxpool Pro subscriptions are $4.99/month and allows 100 uploads a month and more features.
When you subscribe, you also directly support the development of this platform.
Who are you and what you know about loops?
My name is Andy Enue aka Genghis Kangol aka Enueism COD.
Sometimes I make music.
Sometimes I decorate things.
But I mainly nerd out most days, building things for the interweb.
loopxpool has been one of my personal passion projects off and on for the last few years.
When I got more into making beats a few years back, I realized I had no good way to get them on to my phone to cut to. I would also run out of space on my old ass phone pretty regularly and would have to delete a bunch of things to play a really long loop exported from my DAW.
I wanted to figure out a better way to export snippets out of my DAW software and get it looping on my devices.
While loopxpool still in early stages, my long term vision for this platform is to build more features that support connecting creatives of all types, and build a community by fostering collaboration.
I'm also just figuring it out as I go along. Straight freestyling...
If you are down to support the loopxpool mission, creating the freshest way to put the beats on the internet, sign up, say hello, slide up in the DMs, or come talk smack on our Discord server.
